Matt Pond began his relentless pattern of making records and touring in Philadelphia, PA (hence his band name "Matt Pond PA") in 1998. The only mainstay of his ever-evolving group, Pond has toured the U.S. countless times over and released seven albums to date for Altitude Records and Polyvinyl Records, among others. He became well known early on for incorporating classical instruments into his band's compositions, not merely as embellishments, but as foundational components for many of the tunes.
Following a move to Brooklyn, NY in 2003, Pond joined with AAM Management and began stripping away some of the orchestral elements in his music to release by far the most propulsive and popular albums of his career to date: "Emblems" in 2004 and "Several Arrows Later" in 2005. He followed those up with albums in 2007 ("Last Light") and 2010 ("Dark Leaves"). He has toured with such world-known acts as Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Keane, Gomez, and Liz Phair. The band and the music from these albums have also appeared on "The OC", "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "Last Call with Carson Daly", "Laguna Beach", and the film "First Descent".
