Earlier this spring, the 19-year old R&B/Pop artist Khalid released his debut album American Teen mixed by Erik Madrid. The humble teen left El-Paso Texas after graduating from high school to work on his music career. The singers first single "Location" off the album shot to the top of the R&B charts at #7 at the beginning of 2017. With the backings of his hometown and a large fanbase of teens themselves his album American Teen debuted at #9 on Billboard Top 200. The album also features the track “Winter” co-written by GRADES which was #1 on the iTunes R&B/Soul charts at one point. The 1980’s pop synths brings inspiration and draws out Khalids smooth vocals proving success. The young singer is frequently active with his fan base on social media posing to still remain a relatable character to teens. With his Tour dates selling out all over the country the singer was living in his wildest dreams. The hit single “Location” went platinum this past June being the first for the Texas Teen and went 3x Multi-Platinum this week.
Yesterday the teen quickly took to Twitter and Instagram thanking his fans for making his debut album American Teen go platinum. Noting that this was his debut album with absolutely zero vocal features. This morning his second single "Young, Dumb, & Broke" as well went platinum after 14 weeks on the chart and peaking at #9 on the Billboard 200. The album mixed by Erik Madrid featuring GRADES songwriting alongside production makes for a hit, as this young artist comes out on top rubbing shoulders with the best in the music industry.
