After Ellie Goulding amassed over five billion views on her YouTube channel and Juice WRLD’s debut album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, their highly anticipated collaboration, “Hate Me,” was finally released on June 26. Jason Evigan co-produced this “contagious new track [that] straddles the line between R&B and pop” alongside The Monsters and Strangerz. (udiscovermusic)
Throughout this song, Goulding confronts an ex, bringing out a slightly different side of this artist. “I love how this song is a bit tongue in cheek,” said Goulding. “It’s definitely lyrically different to most of my other songs but it’s fun to play around a bit.”
With Evigan’s producing skills, this song seamlessly lays Ellie Goulding and Juice WRLD’s lyrics over a rhythm that “sounds like a child’s nursey rhyme spliced with a harrowing EDM beat” (Breathe Heavy).
In the past, Evigan has worked with many other popular tracks, from “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5 to “Heart Attack” by Demi Lovato and “Talk Dirty’ by Jason Derulo. Much of his success can be attributed to his diverse skillset, from being an innovative producer and excellent topliner, as well as his laid-back approach to sessions.
Don’t forget to listen to “Hate Me,’ available on all streaming platforms now.
