This past Saturday, over 60,000 people gathered on the Great Lawn at New York City's Central Park for the seventh annual Global Citizen Festival. Featuring countless celebrities and influential world leaders, the festival serves as an initiative to promote socio-political justice and eliminate poverty worldwide.
Among the festival's headliners were some of the biggest names in music, such as Janet Jackson, The Weeknd, Cardi B, Shawn Mendes, Janelle Monáe, and John Legend. Audiences were also treated to a surprise guest appearance by Keala Settle. She delivered a powerful performance of her Oscar-nominated anthem, "This Is Me," from The Greatest Showman after being introduced to the audience by her co-star and festival host, Hugh Jackman.
Keala was accompanied on stage by the New York City Gay Men's Choir, who provided stunning harmonies to Keala's soulful lead vocals. A defiant celebration of self-identity and valuing each other's differences, the song is already an emotional tour de force - but Keala's charismatic flair, passionate message and breathtaking performance alongside the Gay Men's Choir ultimately made it what Billboard listed as one of the absolute best moments from this year's Global Citizen Festival. We couldn't agree more!
