Lindy Robbins Wins APRA Music Award

On Tuesday, April 30th, The Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) hosted the 2019 APRA Music Awards in Melbourne, Australia. Unlike many other music award shows, the APRA Awards are not necessarily focused on artist performance or popularity, but rather on exemplary songwriting, composition and publishing that go into a song. As such, it comes as no surprise that multi-platinum selling and award-winning AAM songwriter, Lindy Robbins, won Country Work of the Year at this year's APRA Awards for her work on Morgan Evans' smash hit single, "Day Drunk," off his 2018 album, Things That We Drink To.

The platinum-certified single shot up to the top of Australia's ARIA charts, reached #1 on both The Music Network's Hot 100 and Country charts, and even charted on Billboard's US Country Airplay and US Hot Country Songs charts. Enjoying acclaim from both critics and fans alike, "Day Drunk" also won Single of the Year at the 2019 Golden Guitar Awards - the Australian equivalent of the Country Music Awards in the US. The single's massive popularity helped catapult the full album to the #5 spot on the ARIA Australian Albums chart, within the top 10 on the Billboard US Country Albums, and even onto the Billboard 200.

Lindy is no stranger to writing massive international hits or winning prestigious music awards. In 2016, she received an ASCAP Pop Music Award for co-writing Jason Derulo's "Want to Want Me," which skyrocketed to the top of charts worldwide, including the Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream Top 40 charts, and went multi-platinum around the globe. In recent years, she has penned countless smash hits, such as Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper," Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight Tonight," David Guetta's "Dangerous" (feat. Sam Martin), Jason Derulo's "It Girl," MKTO's "Classic," Fifth Harmony's "Miss Movin' On," and the Backstreet Boys' "Incomplete." Lindy has also worked with many of the biggest names in music today, like Dua Lipa, One Direction, Zedd, LeAnn Rimes, Jennifer Hudson, 5 Seconds of Summer, Pitbull, Rachel Platten, Jennifer Lopez, Leona Lewis, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, and Olly Murs. Adding a 2019 APRA Award to her extensive list of accomplishments, Lindy has certainly proven herself to be one of today's most preeminent songwriters and leading figures in the global music industry. Congratulations to Lindy!
