Sarah Hudson and Katy Perry Team Up Again For “Immortal Flame”

Sarah Hudson and Katy Perry are closing out the year with a bold step away from Top 40 radio and into your mobile device. This Wednesday, Katy Perry continued her recent trend of dropping surprise singles with "Immortal Flame," co-written by Sarah Hudson. Instead of hitting the airwaves, Spotify or Apple Music, a snippet of the song was released on YouTube in tandem with an announcement that Katy will be featured as a new playable character in the popular smartphone game, Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, and that "Immortal Flame" will join the game's official soundtrack. Fans and critics alike are hailing the new single as a "soaring power ballad" and praising Sarah's songwriting, especially in regard to its lyrical "passion," "powerful chorus" and a melody that "highlights [Katy's] vocal abilities" (Idolator). The single is currently available in its entirety exclusively through Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, which can be downloaded through the App Store, Google Play Store or Amazon.

Sarah and Katy actually have quite an extensive history of writing hit songs together. Just last year, Sarah co-wrote more than half of the songs on Katy's album, Witness, including singles, "Hey Hey Hey" and "Swish Swish," the latter of which topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart at #1 and is currently certified platinum. The album itself shot to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 last year, as well. Back in 2013, Sarah co-wrote the pop star's explosive smash hit, "Dark Horse," which reached #1 on Billboard's Hot 100, Dance Club Songs, Mainstream Top 40, and Rhythmic charts. It also achieved the coveted diamond certification, making it one of the all-time biggest Katy Perry songs ever written.

Over this past year, Sarah worked with pop rock band, Against The Current, on their newest album, Past Lives, as well as with Camila Cabello on her breakthrough solo debut album, Camila, which earned the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 and platinum certification. With the release of "Immortal Flame," as well as projects she is currently working on, we're sure 2019 will be a huge year for Sarah!
